Loading your Hook
One of the biggest concerns for fishermen is losing their bait without a catch, especially if the bait is a decent type. That’s where ensuring that your hook is correctly loaded comes in handy. As there are several types of bait so it’s important to note that you might have to load each type of bait in a different way. Let’s get to know the loading techniques now:
— Live bait. This can be tricky as you’ll need to hook or pierce a part of the bait’s body, but not in a way that could be fatal as you’ll want the bait to attract as much attention as possible. Aim to hook through the lower chest where able, or for worms and grubs; towards either end to ensure maximum movement whether dead or alive.
— Natural bait. These types of bait won’t need to be pierced; you’ll just want to press a small amount in to a rough ball shape and then press it around the hook itself, usually on the tip for catching smaller fish.
— Synthetic bait. This type of bait usually comes in the same form as natural bait, so the pressing technique above is also ideal.
— False bait and lures. These types of bait will typically come with hooks attached, so simply attach live, natural or synthetic bait to your false bait. If no hooks are present, then use shank clip connectors to create a connection between line and bait.
