The Aqua-Quest Hoopla Bivy sack is a very light weight one man tent, at just over a kilo which makes it very easy to transport. It only took a few minutes to set up using the single aluminium pole provided and I secured it using the steel rods included within the set.

I wanted to see how the bivy sack performed over night on my solo camping trip, so I slept for roughly 8 hours with the mesh panels sealed and covered. The sack’s material was very breathable and the ventilation was excellent. It also does a great job of keeping the cold out and the warm air in. I expected the bivy sack to be covered in condensation come morning, but the walls were completely dry thanks to the meshing and zipper allowing ventilation.

Next up I wanted to test the waterproof construction of the sack and went outside to gather some water. I poured roughly 8 litres along the length of the bivy sack and not a single drop made it through the material once sealed.

Overall, the Aqua-Quest Hoopla Bivy Sack is ideal for sleeping a single person up to 6’9″ and I’d definitely use it again and again. It’s comfortable, durable and weather-resistant, with plenty of features including flyproof netting and mesh windows for humid days. This could actually be one of the best bivy sacks on the market.

We literally can’t talk this bivy sack up enough. Aqua-Quest have really outdone themselves with the Hoopla which boasts more features than five other sacks that we tested.

It’s lightweight, durable and entirely waterproof. The meshing is fantastic quality, not to mention being suitable for extremely hot weather conditions and climates as well as colder temperatures when the sack is zipped up.

Even the smallest details like the zippers and ground slots have been very well thought out and as expected they are made from materials that really demonstrate the care and attention that Aqua-Quest put in to this sack. Easily one of our favorites by far and highly recommended!
